Roading to Yedakumeri
Whenever you plan a trip, you go there after having some information about the place. Yedakumeri is one place which you can explore only by going there, as there is very little or almost no information about the place. The only thing known is that it has a very small railway station when you travel from Mangalore to Bangalore. So if you are a team of adventurous people who want to explore the unexplored in the true sense, you can set out with your off-roading vehicle to Yedakumeri. This place is 3,800 feet above sea level.
Western Ghats
When you pass this place on a train journey from Mangalore to Bangalore, you see elongated railway tracks passing through tunnels amidst the beauty of the Western Ghats. It is told that trekkers used to trek through these railway tracks and used it as a resting place. Anyhow, that is risky so it’s prohibited now. The trek to the railway bridge is nearly 3 hours, and once you reach there, you understand how beautiful the magnificent view of hills, valleys, railway tracks leading to tunnels, and the river flowing underneath is.
There are a few metal platforms across the bridge, which are used by the railway maintenance people. If you suddenly feel the whole bridge vibrating, then you have to quickly step onto those metal platforms and move from the railway tracks…as the vibration means there is a train approaching. It’s an exhilarating and slightly nerve-wracking experience, where every moment is filled with the anticipation of witnessing the train rush by, creating a buzz in the air.
