Hill Station

 Around 60 kms from Thiruvananthapuram, this hill ponmudi means ‘golden peak’. It is at an altitude of 1100 metres and you have to go across 22 challenging hairpin curves to reach there. The place has its best view during sunrise and sunset.Golden Valley is a picturesque location with crystal clear water and golden-hued stones. Also the 12th Hairpin Bend offers spectacular views of tea, cardamom, and pepper plantations. Ponmudi has been a film location to many films of olden times. There is the peppara wildlife sanctuary where you can see leopards, deer, elephants and various birds. The tea estate is another place to explore. The Meenmutty waterfalls is a few kms away. You can go trekking on different trails here . The best part is that the climate is pleasant all year round so summers this can be your sure getaway. There are beautiful cottages with splendid views of the hills if you wish to stay.
