In December’s first week, two best friends from Trivandrum set off on a magical adventure to Chopta, Uttarakhand. We’ve always dreamed of exploring the Himalayan beauty, capturing stunning photos, and shooting reels for our social media. After a quick flight from Trivandrum to Dehradun, we hopped onto a scenic 6-hour drive to Chopta, filled with unlimited excitement .
A Paradise Of Scenic Splendor

Chopta is often called “Mini Switzerland of India,” and as soon as we arrived, we understood why. The view of snow-capped mountains, vast meadows, and pristine landscapes was straight out of a dream. It was the perfect place for us to get creative with our vlogs and Instagram reels. Everywhere we turned, there was a picture-perfect moment just waiting to be captured—whether it was the early morning fog lifting off the mountains or the breathtaking sunset.
Weather
The weather in early December was chilly but absolutely gorgeous. Temperatures ranged from 4°C in the mornings to 12°C during the day, which was perfect for winter lovers like us. The cool breeze and crisp air made the whole experience feel fresh and new. We wore layers of warm clothes, but the excitement of exploring kept us feeling cozy and comfortable.

Food
We were both foodies, and Chopta didn’t disappoint. We relished hot, spicy local dishes like Aloo ke Parathe, Pahadi Rajma, and the famous Garhwali Kumaoni Thali. The food was simple but hearty and so comforting, especially after a day of trekking. One of our favorite moments was enjoying hot chai at a small roadside stall while watching the snowflakes gently fall around us.
Activities
As for activities, Chopta offered plenty to keep us busy. We hiked up to Tungnath Temple, one of the highest Shiva temples in the world, and even trekked to Chandrashila Peak.

The trek was a little challenging, but the views from the top were worth every step. We could see the entire Kedarnath Range, and it felt like we were on top of the world.
Evenings were spent by the warmth of a bonfire, laughing about our adventures and making plans for our next trip.
