If you’re seeking a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of Delhi city life, Dhanaulti in Uttarakhand is the place to be. A tiny hill station with scintillating views and crisp mountain air, it provides a peaceful retreat into nature. Here’s a look at my recent visit to this quaint location.
How I Reached Dhanaulti
I began my travel from Delhi at dawn. The journey lasted 8 hours and was for a distance of about 300 kilometers. I drove on the Yamuna Expressway, making the journey pleasant, and onto the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti road.

The route was picturesque with undulating roads, green scenery, and spectacular views of mountains. For the convenience of others, who might not like driving, there is a bus or train to Dehradun from which one may reach Dhanaulti through a short taxi ride.
Discovering Dhanaulti
Dhanaulti is purely about nature, relaxation, and the bliss of hill station living. Here are the pick of my experience:
1. Surkanda Devi Temple
One of the key attractions in Dhanaulti is the Surkanda Devi Temple, which is situated on a hilltop.

The temple provides a spiritual experience, and the brief trek to get there was worthwhile. The views from the top were simply breathtaking, and I felt like I was at the top of the world, with snow-covered peaks and green valleys all around me. It’s a perfect place for both spiritualists and nature enthusiasts.
2. Eco Park
Dhanaulti’s Eco Park is a tranquil oasis located at the heart of nature. It’s a gorgeous park with paths to walk among high deodar and oak trees. I wandered around it for hours, absorbing the fragrance of fresh air and the quiet ambiance.

But if you wish a little fun and adventure too, then Zip-line adventure here could be another thing to be indulged. It’s one ideal spot where one can lie low, picnicking and or having an outing.
3. Dhanaulti Adventure Park
To experience a little thrill, I went to the Dhanaulti Adventure Park. The park has things like rock climbing, rappelling, and hiking to do. I attempted rock climbing, which was tough and thrilling. The adventure sports gave an extra kick to my journey, and I strongly recommend it for those who love outdoor adventures.
4. Potato Farm
I also took a trip to a local potato farm, which was a new experience. The farm provided an opportunity to witness the cultivation of potatoes in the hilly landscape. The fields were expansive and green, and the serene environment was ideal for a stroll and some fresh air.
5. Chamba
On the second day, I went to Chamba, a nearby village. The journey to Chamba was short, but the location was peaceful and picturesque. The natural scenery and serene atmosphere made it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Conclusion
Dhanaulti is the ideal place for a weekend escape from Delhi. Whether you want to unwind in nature, take a small adventure, or simply visit offbeat places, Dhanaulti has something for all. My experience left me rejuvenated, with lovely memories of the peaceful surroundings, and I look forward to returning for another tranquil retreat.
