Our College Trip to Mysore – A Memorable Journey

Table of Contents

Last month, we had a college trip to Mysore, and it was really one of the most enjoyable and memorable trips we’ve had. We were a group of around 40 students and two of our professors. We had planned the trip for two days, and everyone was really excited.

Journey and Stay

We departed from our college in Bangalore early in the morning in a bus. Along the way, we had breakfast at a roadside hotel. The day was pleasant, and the drive was smooth. After a couple of hours of driving, we arrived at Mysore and checked into Pai Vista Hotel, which was excellent. The rooms were spotless, staff was courteous, and food was great. We particularly liked the buffet breakfast and dinner. The hotel also had a good view of the city.

The six places we visited

  1. Mysore Palace: Our first stop was the famous Mysore Palace. It looked grand and beautiful. We took a guided tour inside and saw the decorated halls, paintings, and royal artifacts. The palace looked even more amazing when it was lit up in the evening.
  2. Chamundi Hills: Next, we went to Chamundi Hills. We visited the Chamundeshwari Temple at the top. From there, we could see the entire Mysore city. There was a huge Nandi statue on the way down, which many of us took photos with.
  3. St. Philomena’s Church: This church is one of the biggest in India and has beautiful architecture. It was peaceful inside, and we spent some quiet time here.
  4. Mysore Zoo: The next morning, we visited the Mysore Zoo. It is big and well-maintained. We saw lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, and many birds. We walked around for a long time and enjoyed watching the animals.
  5. Railway Museum: This was an interesting place where we saw old trains and engines. Some coaches were open for us to go inside and see how people used to travel earlier.
  6. Brindavan Gardens: On the second evening, we went to Brindavan Gardens. It was very beautiful with greenery and fountains. The main highlight was the musical fountain show, which was fun to watch. We clicked a lot of group photos there.

Shopping

We also had some time for shopping in Mysore. Most of us bought Mysore silk sarees, sandalwood items, and perfume sticks. The local markets were colorful and full of things to buy. The prices were reasonable too.

On the return trip to Bangalore, we made a stop at Channapatna, which is well known for its wooden toys. The toys were hand-painted and very adorable. Some of us purchased toys for our younger siblings. Others bought keychains and little souvenirs.

Last Thoughts

We arrived in Bangalore in the late evening, exhausted but contented. It was a well-planned journey, and we liked each moment of it. The experience at Pai Vista Hotel enhanced our journey with its comfort and delicious food. We also gained much knowledge about Mysore history and culture. Above all, we created a great deal of memories with our friends that will linger forever.
